ANTHOLOGY INFORMATION: 

What are your roots, and how have they shaped your identity? The Motherland Anthology seeks to examine the ties that we have to both of our homes, to our communities and to our cultures. It is a digital publication created for BIPOC writers and artists who identify as part of a diaspora. The publication is sponsored by the Asian American Progressive Student Union as well as The Empowerment Paper. We accept submissions of creative writing, visual art and photography.

Submissions to the anthology will be open from February 1st to March 4th, 2024. 

AVAILABLE MEDIUMS:

We currently accept three forms of art:

• Creative Writing

  • Micro-fiction (work between 100 and 400 words)

  • Flash Fiction (work between 400 and 1000 words)

  • Short Stories (work between 1000 and 3000 words)

  • Creative Nonfiction and Essays (work between 1000 and 3000 words)

  • Poetry (work between 10 and 40 lines)

• Visual Art

• Photography

You may submit up to three times in each category.

You may submit up to two times in each creative writing sub-category.

Submissions containing content that falls into more than one category are admissible.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

Email asianamericanPSU@gmail.com using the subject line: MOTHERLAND: [Insert genre or medium] Submission.

Include a third person bio to be published in the digital anthology along with your work.

Please attach your work as a separate file. Do not include your name anywhere on the attached file.

If your work has been previously published, you must state which publications it can be found in.

When can I expect to hear back on my submission? Writers and artists can expect an emailed response by late March. 

Are simultaneous submissions accepted? Simultaneous submissions are permissible, but please let us know immediately if you're work is accepted elsewhere.

Are previously published works accepted? Previously published works are accepted. Please state the publications they can be found in while submitting to the publication.
